Our Business and Supply Chains

Hackney Man and Van operates in the transport and removals sector, providing local and regional moving and delivery services. Our supply chains primarily include vehicle leasing and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, equipment and packaging suppliers, and occasional use of subcontracted labour and specialist services.

Because of the nature of our sector and our reliance on both local and regional suppliers, we recognise the importance of robust checks when selecting and reviewing our suppliers and partners. We expect all parties within our supply chain to uphold standards that are consistent with our own zero-tolerance stance.

Supplier Standards and Audits

We are committed to working only with suppliers and subcontractors who share our values and comply with applicable labour, employment and human rights laws. To support this, we seek to incorporate anti-slavery expectations into our supplier selection and onboarding processes and make clear that modern slavery will result in the termination of commercial relationships.

Hackney Man and Van may conduct risk-based reviews and audits of suppliers, prioritising those operating in higher-risk categories or locations. These reviews can include requiring suppliers to provide information on their labour practices, workforce conditions, recruitment processes and use of subcontractors. Where concerns are identified, we will work with the supplier to address them within a reasonable timeframe. If satisfactory improvements are not made, we reserve the right to suspend or end the relationship.

Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing

We encourage all workers, suppliers, contractors and customers to report any concerns or suspicions of modern slavery or human trafficking that may be connected to Hackney Man and Van or our supply chains. We will take all reports seriously and treat them sensitively and, as far as possible, confidentially.

Concerns can be raised to management or through any existing internal reporting process that is made available to staff or contractors. Reports will be reviewed promptly, investigated where appropriate, and addressed through corrective action, including referral to the relevant authorities where required.

No person reporting a genuine concern in good faith will suffer retaliation or detrimental treatment for doing so. We are committed to fostering a culture in which people feel able to speak up about potential wrongdoing.

Training and Awareness

Hackney Man and Van aims to raise awareness of modern slavery risks amongst management, staff and key contractors. Where proportionate to role and risk, we provide guidance on recognising signs of exploitation, understanding our zero-tolerance policy and knowing how to raise concerns or seek further advice.
